AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc AMC Stocks are trading higher. The company said Monday that it had its highest domestic sales ever during the pre-Thanksgiving weekend.

What happened: AMC announced that it had the highest weekend domestic sales, including admissions, food and beverages, in company history. The pre-Thanksgiving weekend was the highest domestic admissions sales since 2019 and the third highest domestic admissions sales in AMC history.

AMC welcomed 4.6 million moviegoers across all U.S. and international theaters Thursday through Sunday. AMC said the attendance was due to strong opening weekends for “Wicked” and “Gladiator II.”

“This past weekend’s results are further evidence that moviegoers want to see these films on the biggest screens with the biggest sounds and that theatrical exhibition is ready and able to support multiple blockbuster titles opening on the same weekend.” he said Adam AaronChairman and CEO of AMC Entertainment.

AMC noted that its merchandise program for “Wicked” was well received, with collectibles selling out about halfway through the weekend. The company also announced that select AMC locations will offer screenings of “Wicked Singalong” beginning in late December.

AMC said the company is also expected to be busy ahead of Thanksgiving weekend, with the highly anticipated release of “Moana 2” scheduled for Wednesday.
