Champions League recap: Bayern’s Kim Min-jae puts PSG in trouble | Champions League

Bayern Munich fought past the 10-man team Paris Saint Germain 1-0 thanks to Kim Min-jae’s winner, improving their chances of automatic qualification and leaving the visitors in trouble after a third defeat in the competition.

Having secured their only win so far in their opening game against Girona, PSG were desperately looking for points, but Bayern opened the scoring when South Korean Kim headed home from close range after goalkeeper Matvei Safonov scored in the 38th minute faked a corner.

Things got even worse for Luis Enrique’s PSG when Ousmane Dembélé was sent off for a tackle that resulted in a second yellow card in the 57th minute, leaving an already struggling team down to 10 players.

Safonov made amends for his earlier mistake by directing Jamal Musiala’s shot onto the post, but despite some late pressure, PSG were unable to hold off Bayern.

The Bavarian club climbed to 11th place with nine points from five games, one point behind the top eight places that mean automatic qualification for the round of 16. PSG sits in 26th place with four points remaining and is outside the playoff places with three games to go.

An own goal RB Leipzig Defender Castello Lukeba gave Inter a 1-0 home win in the Champions League, with which the Italian champions temporarily took the lead in the table. Inter took the lead in the 27th minute after Lukeba converted the ball into Leipzig’s own goal following a free kick from Federico Dimarco.

Unbeaten Inter lead the table with 13 points from five games, one point ahead of second-placed Barcelona – which beat Brest 3-0 in the simultaneous kick-off – and Liverpool, which hosts Real Madrid on Wednesday. Leipzig is still looking for its first points of the league phase after five consecutive defeats in the competition.

“Julián is a player of the highest level, having played for River Plate, Manchester City and Argentina. Since he came to us he has only gotten stronger and we expect the best from him.” After Álvarez and Marcos Llorente gave Atlético a three-goal lead, Antoine Griezmann and Ángel Correa came off the bench to add even more joy. Correa scored two goals in the final minutes.

Milan secured their third win in a row with a 3-2 win Slovak Bratislavaheld on after the home side attempted a late comeback. The first half ended evenly as Milan’s Christian Pulisic opened the scoring in the 21st minute before a quick counterattack equalized three minutes later through Slovan’s Tigran Barseghyan.

Milan struggled to hold off Slovan before substitute Rafael Leão put them back in front in the 68th minute and Tammy Abraham capitalized on a horror back pass from David Strelec to extend the lead three minutes later. Slovan equalized in the 88th minute through Nino Marcelli, but then Marko Tolic was sent off for two yellow cards in quick succession and Milan survived the late drama to take nine points.

Bayer Leverkusen got their Champions League season back on track with a 5-0 home win Red Bull SalzburgFlorian Wirtz scored two goals and the guests had their goalkeeper Alexander Schlager to thank for preventing an even bigger defeat.

Leverkusen, who lost 4-0 at Liverpool in their last game, took an early lead when Wirtz scored from the penalty spot in the eighth minute and Alejandro Grimaldo scored from a free kick three minutes later. Wirtz scored again after half an hour as Leverkusen threatened to torpedo, Patrik Schick scored the fourth goal 16 minutes after the break and Aleix García rounded off the win.

Leverkusen’s return to winning ways, after also drawing 1-1 with Brest, takes them to ten points, while Salzburg remain on three points after their fourth defeat in five games.
