Ben Affleck bonds with ex-wife Jennifer Garner on Thanksgiving while Jennifer Lopez goes through divorce: ‘He’s very happy’ “You could hear the bang, bang, bang,” witnesses recall of their experiences during the Park Plaza Mall shooting

It is not uncommon for a season to last Yellowstone to include several trips to the “train station” – the show’s euphemism for the Dutton family’s tendency to permanently rid themselves of their enemies, often with a well-placed bullet – but the second half of season five proved special for both sides bloody from the Duttons’ war to keep their ranch. The season began with the dramatic death of family patriarch John Dutton (following the mid-season exit of actor Kevin Costner) and Sunday night’s episode saw the death toll rise with the murder of antagonist Sarah Atwood.

The character has been a co-conspirator/lover of the Dutton’s son Jamie for some time in his plan to remove his father from power and sell the ranch land for development. Earlier in the season, it was revealed that she was the one behind hiring the assassins who killed John and portrayed his death as a suicide. So it was a particularly karmic twist that led to her being shot by the same group as the Dutton siblings. Beth and Kayce successfully convinced the government to open an investigation into their father’s murder.

How did actress Dawn Olivieri, who played the Machiavellian advisor, feel about the character’s departure? “I always know it’s coming,” she told the Hollywood Reporter“And reading it is like, ‘Okay, here we go.’ We got what we all wanted. I think everyone is happy that the station came.”

On the impact of Costner’s unexpected exit on the series, she said: “I don’t think I should leave as quickly as I did. I think that was going to happen (with John), but because we had to finish it all in a flash, I think it had to continue the way it was going. I think I should continue as the character next season. I think everything has changed because of the situation. The plot had to go full throttle to figure out how to tie all the endings together and move things forward.”

Olivieri is no stranger to getting killed on a show he directs Yellowstone Creator Taylor Sheridan: The actress also appeared in the Yellowstone Prequel 1883 as Claire, the sister of Dutton’s ancestor James Dutton, who met a similarly dramatic end.

“Taylor is special, he was to me, because to me a death just means a life somewhere else, and he immediately transferred me to another show. So it’s fun to read it and then be like, ‘Oh, I’m going to do something different now,'” she explained, revealing that she will next appear in the CIA thriller created by Sheridan lioness.
