Xavier Woods received a surprising warning.

After signing with WWE in 2010, Xavier Woods spent three years in Florida Championship Wrestling and NXT before joining the main roster. While he initially worked with R-Truth, Woods really found his feet after forming The New Day a year later.

Despite some initial difficulties and creative missteps, the trio emerged as a dominant force, with Big E and Kofi Kingston becoming world champions, while Woods became King of the Ring in 2021. However, the group was actually a tag team and cemented its legacy, holding the tag team gold title for a then-record 483 days.

On the December 2nd edition of Raw, WWE celebrates a decade of The New Day despite increasing tensions between Woods and Kingston.

Xavier Woods was told he was too similar to Kofi Kingston

In a new video on WWE’s YouTube channel, the trio looked back on their run together and Woods recalled being told to stay away from Kingston because they were considered too similar.

“Throughout my entire WWE career, I was told to stay away from Kofi. Not because he’s bad, but because we’re very similar.

In wrestling you have to carve out your own space, and they say, “If Kofi does that and we automatically see you and imagine that you’re like a second-rate Kofi, that’s not going to be good for you.” And so have I always stayed away from him.”

It was reported that as part of the celebrations on Raw, “several ideas” were floated for Big E’s return to WWE television. The former world champion has been out of action for well over two years after suffering a broken neck during a match on SmackDown.
