The Undertaker shared the story behind his signature victory pose.

After a hard-fought battle, The Deadman dropped to one knee, raised his arm in the air and struck his iconic pose, holding the title if he was also the champion at the time. As the post-match ritual became so closely associated with his character throughout his career, the WWE Hall of Famer remembered how it all began.

When asked about the pose on him Six feet under On the podcast, Undertaker noted that he was nicknamed “The Shakespeare” and that he began working with Paul Bearer. Taker also noted that it became his signature bow to fans when his alliance with Bearer came to an end:

“Then called ‘Shakespeare’, that’s what they call it, that’s what everyone calls it. Play the Shakespeare after the 1 2 3. It started around the urn. I hit the flying clothesline and rolled onto my knee. Paul (porter) was there and lifted the urn and that’s how it started.

There were many times when I looked like I was going to do more damage to my opponent and Paul would grab me by the hair, shove the urn in my face and tell me my job was done. After Paul left I was on my own, it kind of became part of my repertoire. That’s kind of become my trademark.”

The Undertaker recalls “miserable” WWE segments

Although The Phenom was a top star in the company for three decades and won the World Championship seven times, not every day was a career highlight. Also in his podcast, The Undertaker recalled a WWE segment that was difficult to film.

In a previous episode, The Undertaker called a WWE star a modern-day Andre The Giant.
