Of all the upcoming WWE events on the horizon is the return of NBC Main event on Saturday evening That’s what I’m looking forward to the most. While the majority of upcoming matches on the 2025 TV schedule will take place, December will deliver the opening episode, giving a casual audience a taste of how WWE has evolved over the past year. The main event was recently announced and features the two superstars who I think are best suited not only to long-time fans, but also to newcomers and those who have been away for a long time.

With rumors of The Rock returning to WrestleMania 41 and Monday Night Raw Coming to Netflix, there’s a good chance WWE will get some new viewers to watch the company in 2025. So let me tell you why you’re watching Main event on Saturday evening On Saturday December 14th there will be a great presentation of what to expect in the future, starting with who will be part of the big evening.

Cody Rhodes will defend his championship title against Kevin Owens

For the second time this year, Cody Rhodes will defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens. The two previously fought as friends at Bash In Berlin, with Rhodes ultimately retaining his title. Since then, Owens has angered his ally for siding with Roman Reigns and others, and he has taken out his aggression against Randy Orton and other people Rhodes has been allied with in the past.

Rhodes, long past his breaking point, offered the challenge Smack downwhich was confirmed by WWE on Monday. Even if the title doesn’t change hands, what a great start to WWE’s big return to television broadcasting.

Both Superstars and their feud highlight what’s great about modern WWE

Anyone who tunes in Main event on Saturday evening Anyone who isn’t an avid WWE fan will notice one important thing about this feud that was less of a factor in the days of Hulk Hogan or even Stone Cold Steve Austin. The rivalry between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens is one in which both wrestlers score important points. As the face of WWE, Cody Rhodes is considered a hero, but I think there will be more than a few people who will support Owens and his reasons for feeling betrayed by a friend.

And while Owens may face criticism for using Stone Cold Steve Austin’s stunning finisher, don’t expect this to be a match straight out of the Attitude Era. WWE performers have dramatically increased their in-ring prowess, not only in terms of “cool moves” but also in terms of conditioning and maintaining energy and pace.

Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes are two of the best when it comes to pulling off a variety of moves that will keep you glued to NBC or your Peacock Premium subscription. Hopefully another match will be added to the card as well, as I would love for everyone to get a taste of what a premium live event at this company looks like in the modern era.

I’ll be ready to watch the premiere of on Saturday, December 14th at 8:00 pm ET Main event on Saturday evening on NBC and Peacock. I can’t wait to see how a casual audience reacts to WWE’s new look and whether it will attract new fans ahead of the big year 2025 for the brand.
