GREEN BAY, Wis. – After defeating the undermanned San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, the Green Bay Packers moved up to seventh place in the Packers On SI Consensus NFL Power Rankings.

The Packers were Eighth last week in the rankings, which converts eight national power rankings into one all-knowing consensus ranking.

The Detroit Lions remain number 1 and the Buffalo Bills are in a three-way battle for number 2. With the Lions, the Minnesota Vikings and the Packers, the NFC has three teams in the top seven.

Here’s what the national experts say, with links to their full rankings.

Josh Kendall put the Packers in his top five.

“Green Bay showcased itself as a legitimate NFC contender on Sunday by destroying the reigning conference champions. If Jordan Love can be efficient (two touchdowns and a 107.7 passer rating against the 49ers) and Josh Jacobs keeps it up, the Packers can be a threat to the Lions in the playoffs. Jacobs, who had 106 yards on Sunday, is third in rushing yards (944) and has the sixth-best avoided tackle rate among backs with more than 150 carries, according to FTN Fantasy.”

Sports Illustrated: 6

Conor Orr, who moved the Packers up two spotsHe loves Green Bay’s running game.

“I saw a clip of Josh Jacobs touching the ball on Sunday against the 49ers, and after so many years of being fascinated by the complexities of Kyle Shanahan’s running game, it’s time to introduce Matt LaFleur and Adam Stenavich “The amount of extra momentum they got in the run game by using Tucker Kraft and John FitzPatrick as weapons, the countless ways Jacobs already has the ball in Movement brought… it was beautiful. And in January it will be absolutely important.”

The Packers moved up a few spots in ESPN’s beat writer rankings.

“Where would the Packers’ defense be if it weren’t for all of their takeaways?” Packers beat writer Rob Demovsky wrote. “Their 22 forced turnovers (including one on special teams) rank second in the NFL, making up for mediocre run defense and the lack of a consistent pass rush. Their overall FPI ranking is fourth, which means this team is a legitimate Super Bowl contender.”

Frank Schwab gave the Packers a lead.

“A lot has been said about the Packers essentially replacing Aaron Jones with Josh Jacobs. It looks like the right decision. Jacobs is third in the NFL with 944 yards and has seven touchdowns. Jones has 798 yards and three scores. Jones was good for Minnesota, but it’s hard to say Green Bay made the wrong decision.”

Fox Sports: 7

David Helman moved the Packers up one spot after a one-sided victory over a well-rounded rival.

“Breaking up the 49ers isn’t that big of a statement when Brock Purdy, Trent Williams and Nick Bosa aren’t in the game, but it still must have felt good to completely demoralize a team that had caused them so much grief. “last years.

Eric Edholm put Green Bay up by one after his “solid stomp” of the 49ers.

After discussing that game, Edlhom looked ahead to Thursday: “However, there should be some concerns ahead of the short-week game against a suddenly scary Miami team. WR Romeo Doubs suffered a concussion on Sunday, and if he is to play on Thanksgiving night, he will need to clear the protocol very quickly. The Packers could also be without Jaire Alexander (knee) and linebacker Edgerrin Cooper (hamstring), both of whom missed the win over San Francisco.”

Pete Prisco also moved the Packers up one spot.

“They dominated the undermanned 49ers, but that’s what they had to do. The running game was great with Josh Jacobs and the defense was great.”

Pro Football Talk: 7

Mike Florio also moved the Packers up one spot. Here’s what he had to say about the Dolphins, whom he ranked 18th: “The Shell Game offense won’t go to the frozen tundra.”

This week’s opponent: Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins’ average ranking is 16.0.

SI.com’s Orr moved Miami from 23rd to 12th. This is the highest mark of the eight rankings. Rookie outside linebacker Chop Robinson will be a player the Packers should keep an eye on. He has 3.5 sacks and seven quarterback hits in the last four games.

“Chop Robinson was an absolute menace in this game and midway through the first quarter the Patriots tried to find ways to contain him,” Orr wrote.

Fox’s Helman moved the Dolphins After a third consecutive win, he rose from 15th to 13th.

“In each of Mike McDaniel’s first two seasons, Miami started hot and faded over time. How ironic would it be if the 2024 Dolphins became the dreaded “team no one wants to play against” in the final month of the season? They could make me believe if they could win a cold weather game in Green Bay on Thanksgiving night.”

Packers above SI’s consensus top 10

1. Detroit Lions (8; all eight first-place finishers); 2, Buffalo Bills (22); 3, Philadelphia Eagles (23); 4, Kansas City Chiefs (24); 5, Minnesota Vikings (46); 6, Baltimore Ravens (48); 7, Green Bay Packers (51); 8, Pittsburgh Steelers (64); 9, Los Angeles Chargers (74); 10, Denver Broncos (81).
