Ben Affleck bonds with ex-wife Jennifer Garner on Thanksgiving while Jennifer Lopez goes through divorce: ‘He’s very happy’ “You could hear the bang, bang, bang,” witnesses recall of their experiences during the Park Plaza Mall shooting

Wheel of Fortune The most valuable tradition is the bonus round, where the winner of each episode faces a final puzzle and has just 10 seconds to win (or not) an even bigger wad of cash. But fans want to talk to host Ryan Seacrest about how he presents the prizes after setting up a player’s $40,000 win with a mystery sum.

On the Friday, November 22 episode, Brittany Brock, a kindergarten teacher from Chicago, Illinois, was the player who advanced to the coveted bonus round. By then, she had won $17,300 in cash and a trip to Kauai and chose “Living Thing” as her category. With the clever additional letters “DPBI”, the two-word puzzle reads “‘_ _ DDL_’ ‘P_PP_'”. Almost immediately, she properly redeemed it as a “cuddly puppy.”

The show features Seacrest and an excited Brock, and it was time to reveal how much she won from the prize wedge she chose. Seacrest opened the gold prize card and took a look at the figure. “And…” he told her with a surprised grin (below). After a few seconds he added, “Ready?”

Broke clapped her hands over her mouth in anticipation as Seacrest then revealed that she had won an additional $40,000, the minimum that can be won in the bonus round. “$40,000!” he exclaimed. This earned her a total of $57,381 and she was still overjoyed and hugged her husband.

On social media, many fans celebrated the big win while wondering why Seacrest gave away the prize for so long, making it seem like a greater value and like the confetti was about to overflow into the Sony Pictures Studios parking lot.

“Ryan acts like it’s $75,000 or $100,000 with the slow way he displays the amount,” one fan wrote when the game show shared the clip on YouTube.

Over there on WoF Reddit, a fan, dedicated a discussion thread to the moment titled “Bonus Reveal… lolz.” They continued, “I like Seacrest but I have to admit I’m not a fan of the dramatic 40K reveals lol.”

“Agreed…” a second user wrote, arguing that a candidate in the future could be “disappointed” if it wasn’t more.

“The woman and I commented on this last night. He presents it as if it was a little more than the reserve prize amount! One day the participant will react with disappointment.”

A third wrote: “He also twists his body awkwardly and jumps around just to open the card.” Then he says: “It was so much,” as if he couldn’t say the amount. Kind of strange. However, the lack of larger amounts recently is striking. I’m glad it’s been cash only so far. A lot of the cars before were 30k, which is nice, but they were the lowest price.”

“I agree, it feels like he’s forcing it,” wrote a fourth.

A fifth was even more critical: “I’m sorry, I know a lot of people will be mad at me, but I just don’t like him.” There’s something about him that I don’t enjoy at all when I see him see anything.”

In the meantime, Seacrest, of course, had big shoes to fill after four decades in Season 42, replacing the legendary Pat Sajak alongside the legendary Vanna White. Its debut month was the highest ratings month WoF for the past three years, and viewers have already been treated to a viral moment (via a round of sausage). However, according to fans, there were some other questionable moments.

In September, Seacrest suffered what fans called his “first blunder,” namely a sustained reaction to being rewarded with a bonus round. Fans also called out the hosts for deciding against another player before time expired. There were also a few on-screen “glitches” and a small typo in a Thanksgiving puzzle. Many fans also blamed Seacrest’s lack of experience for mishandling a contestant’s $1 million wedge, which she promptly forfeited.
