As of this offseason, Cam Johnson has been one of the Nets’ biggest trade activists. After Mikal Bridges was traded to the Knicks, the franchise is reportedly rushing to rebuild. Needless to say, the Nets will have to be very careful how they utilize Cam in order to keep his trade value high and receive valuable assets in return. However, they failed to protect him tonight as the star striker suffered an unfortunate injury that resulted in him leaving midway through the Warriors game.

The incident occurred early in the first quarter when Johnson grabbed an offensive rebound after a missed shot. Although he was able to easily make the layup under the basket, he accidentally stepped on Draymond Green’s foot as he turned to go back on defense. This led to him injuring his right ankle. In fact, he appeared to be in visible pain and immediately began to limp as the game continued.

With his night ending early, Johnson finished with five points and two rebounds. The severity of his injury remains unknown, but the Nets are hoping he won’t be out for too long, especially given a potential trade.

Cam Johnson’s trade value is at an all-time high and the Warriors are emerging as potential suitors

Of course, many front offices are taking notice of Cam’s injury as his trade value is currently at an all-time high. That’s because he’s averaging a career-high 19.1 points and is emerging as an elite young scorer. Additionally, he shoots 42.6% from distance, a trait most teams look for in their big players. As expected, his versatile skill set means he is on the radar of many teams, including the Warriors.

With De’Anthony Melton out for the season and missing an All-Star caliber big man, the Warriors could reportedly pursue a trade to acquire Johnson. Well, he’ll likely shine alongside Steph as a solid three-point and D-type. Although the Warriors have a hard cap on the first frontcourt and are only $500,000 under that threshold, they could make an interesting offer to the Nets.

According to analyst Jake Weinbach, Mike Dunleavy could offer the Nets a package with Melton, additional expiring salary and a future first-round pick in exchange for the big man. However, it will be difficult to achieve this as the Warriors also have to meet the minimum squad criteria of 14 players. Additionally, there will be more teams fighting to get their hands on Johnson. Do you think the Warriors can pull off the trade against all odds?
