The West Virginia Mountaineers (4-1) will face the Gonzaga Bulldogs (4-1) and the Louisville Cardinals (4-1) in the semifinals. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m. EST and the action will be broadcast on ESPN.

West Virginia really impressed me with their upset of No. 3 Gonzaga yesterday. They played stubborn defense and really dictated the tempo and flow of the game, allowing the Zags to now speed them up.

It’s hard to play against a team that has just pulled off a big upset and now really believes in what they have, but I’ll have to do it. Louisville finds itself in a similar situation after winning a game that no one expected it to win, but it did so convincingly.

Since the Cardinals were able to rest a majority of their starters and key players late in the second half, I believe that gives them a small lead heading into today’s game.

WVU needs to take better care of the ball, and this Louisville team can really get after you. They forced 23 turnovers in their win over Indiana and I believe that is one of the main reasons they win this game.

Prediction record: 4-1.

West Virginia played confidently and with a lot of energy and commitment in its win over third-seeded Gonzaga in the opening round and will need it all in the semifinals against Louisville.

Louisville dismantled No. 14 Indiana in its opening round game and is undoubtedly playing with confidence.

Guard Reyne Smith comes off the bench to lead the team with 14.2 points per game, with most of his production coming from behind the arc and shooting 42.6% from three.

The Mountaineers are undersized in the matchup, which will be the case against Power Four schools moving forward. But against a Gonzaga team that entered the tournament with an average rebound margin of +11, the Mountaineers outscored the bigger Bulldogs by six.

West Virginia may have given off more energy than Louisville in the first-round game, and that’s obviously concerning, but they may not need the extra minutes they got from guard Javon Small and forward, and their bench could play a bigger role in the game .

It’s hard not to root for the Mountaineers after their impressive win over Gonzaga, and I’ll be rooting for the Mountaineers because of how Javon Small and Tucker DeVries are playing

Prediction record: 3-2.
