Police said before the shooting that the victim, an Uber driver with two passengers in the vehicle, and the suspect were involved in a traffic accident that occurred within a quarter-mile radius.

The victim was behind the suspect’s vehicle and when both vehicles came to a stop, the victim exited his vehicle, walked to the driver’s door and punched the window. LVMPD Homicide Unit Lt. Jason Johansson emphasized patience as construction continues throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

“The biggest message I want to pass on to myself is that there is a lot of construction going on in the valley right now. “We’re starting to see a slight increase in some of these road rage shootings, a few murders,” Johansson said. “It wasn’t worth anyone’s life.”

Las Vegas Boulevard was closed in both directions from Spring Mountain Road to the Venetian Entrance. According to RTC Southern Nevada, Sands Avenue is also closed in both directions between Las Vegas Boulevard and Koval Lane. Drivers were advised to use other routes.

This was the first of two fatal shootings in the Central Valley on Monday, the second occurring nearly 45 minutes later and a mile away at a McDonald’s on Paradise Road.
