KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Chiefs legend Tony Gonzalez is in Kansas City this week as part of Amazon Prime Video’s coverage of a Black Friday contest between the Chiefs and Raiders.

Gonzalez, who tied the Chiefs’ franchise touchdown record with tight end Travis Kelce as of Friday, implored the 35-year-old tight end to face an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty if he breaks the record.

“I’m so happy for him,” Gonzalez said Friday during Amazon’s pregame show. “He is one of the best tight ends there has ever been on and off the field. To watch him grow, I’ve been following him since he was a freshman and that doesn’t surprise me.”

The Chiefs’ all-time franchise record for receiving touchdowns is 76. With the two Chiefs legends tied, Kelce could take sole ownership of that record, along with his records for receptions and receiving yards in Kansas City history .

When Gonzalez scored touchdowns, his trademark move was to sling the ball through the goalposts. Now contact with the goal posts is an unsportsmanlike penalty and is punishable by a hefty fine.

“I can’t wait to see this,” Gonzalez said. “If he dunks it, I’ll pay the fine!”
