The 28-year-old American actor is expected to receive the Arlington Artist of the Year Award at the 2025 Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF). This news comes less than a week after he and his “A Complete Unknown” director James Mangold have been named Visionary Tribute honorees at the upcoming Gotham Awards. He previously won the Breakthrough Actor Award for “Call Me by Your Name” (2017) at the Gothams, the Hollywood Film Awards and the National Board of Review, among others.

Chalamet will accept the Arlington Artist of the Year Award at a personal tribute and career retrospective on Tuesday, February 11th. The 40th annual SBIFF event will highlight his performances in three recent feature films: “A Complete Unknown,” in which he portrays music legend Bob DylanDune: Part Two, director Denis Villeneuve“s epic sequel” and “Wonka,” the 2023 musical fantasy comedy.

The managing director of the festival Roger Durling said: “I’m a huge Bob Dylan fan and I was blown away by Chalamet’s transformation in ‘A Complete Unknown.'” His performance is thrilling and electrifying, especially following the huge box office success earlier this year with “Dune: Part Two.” . This is truly the age of Chalamet.”

Chalamet received and lost an Oscar nomination for “Call Me by Your Name” in the Best Actor category Gary Oldman for “Darkest Hour.” According to Gold Derby odds, he is currently nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for “A Complete Unknown.” To date, he has appeared in five Oscar-nominated films: “Call Me by Your Name,” “Lady Bird” (2017), “Little Women” (2019), “Dune: Part One” (2021) and “Don.” ‘t Look Up” (2021).

The Santa Barbara Film Festival runs February 4-15. As usual, attendees will be kept busy with screenings, filmmaker Q&As, industry panels and celebrity tributes. The event will take place at SBIFF’s Riviera Theater and its new Film Center, as well as the historic Arlington Theater.

The official review embargo for A Complete Unknown will be lifted on December 10th, but you can already read some online reactions. The film hits theaters on December 25th.
