Tim Allen is feeling like this football legend as he prepares for his TV comeback

Tim Allen compared his immediate success in returning to television after over 10 years to the success of Tom Brady returning to football after retiring.

Tim Allen is preparing to return to television and he feels like Tom Brady returning to football after retirement.

“I’m still thinking about LAST MAN STANDING,” Allen told US Weekly. “They did that for nine years and now I feel like Tom Brady. I’ll do another one.”

After Allen’s first show, HOME IMPROVEMENT, ended in 1999, Allen didn’t appear on television until 2011, when he landed the lead role in LAST MAN STANDING, which ran until 2021. The next year, he reprized his role as Santa Claus. Disney has turned THE SANTA CLAUSE film series into an original series for Disney+. Now he’s looking forward to his fourth show, SHIFTING GEARS, which will follow a similar format to his first two.

“I am very grateful to be able to work and entertain myself. That’s what I like to do,” Allen said, adding of his new show, “It’s been a great experience.” Our pilot killed it, so they ordered a relay and we’ve been shooting it for about four days. “

Like his other series, SHIFTING GEARS is all about family and the funny, crazy circumstances of life.

Allen plays Matt, “a widowed auto restoration shop owner trying to reconnect with his estranged daughter (Kat Dennings), who moves into Matt’s home with her two teenage children.”

Other cast members include Seann William Scott as Gabriel, “a family friend who works in Matt’s workshop,” and Daryl “Chill” Mitchell as Stitch, “a former Marine who works as a mechanic for Matt.” Riley’s children (and Matt’s grandchildren ) play Maxwell Simkins… and newcomer Barrett Margolis.”

Allen’s emphasis on family experiences stems from the fact that he is part of a large family in real life.

“I am influenced by a very large family. “My wife Jane has a big family and now we have two (children),” Allen said. “My life was determined by my family. Every story I do on stage, doing comedy (and my) stand-up for 40 years, is really about my family.”

SHIFTING GEARS is scheduled to be released in early 2025.
