The Oklahoma City Thunder have worked hard to find a winning combination while Chet Holmgren is sidelined and – despite a recent win – will be looking for strong form in this away clash with the Sacramento Kings.

Sacramento has been through a devastating cold snap of its own, and my Thunder vs. Kings predictions don’t expect that to change tonight. Read more in my NBA picks for Monday, November 25th below.

Thunder vs Kings Prediction

My best choice
Thunder -4.5 (-110 at bet365)

My analysis
The Sacramento Kings will enter this game just 1-3 against the team for the second night in a row, and this game promises to be the most difficult they have faced this year.

After a great comeback in the third quarter, the Kings expended a lot of energy in a close game on Sunday, forcing all of their starters except Kevin Huerter to sit out more than 35 minutes. De’Aaron Fox in particular worked through 38 minutes, and the team’s bench consisted essentially of three players.

Now an offense-reliant Sacramento team will be tasked with meeting the league’s best defense, one that has been brilliant against the 3-pointer.

According to Cleaning the Glass, opponents are shooting just 35.2% from outside against the Thunder, which is the seventh-lowest mark in the league. Like any good defense, the Oklahoma City Thunder have denied clean looks at the rim and beyond the arc, forcing opponents into a bevy of inefficient midrange jumpers.

Now Sacramento made a lot of mid-range shots. Still, facing a team that can eliminate their many scoring chances from outside the box is a difficult proposition to really get this team going on the kind of run they are aiming for.

It should also be noted that while the Thunder allow a lot of mid-range shots, they were the best team at defense, allowing just 35.6% of shots on such shots.

That should put the nail in the coffin for a tired Kings team that was a mess offensively while trying to incorporate DeMar DeRozan. As this team continues to falter defensively, their glaring weakness in three-team defense should be on full display against a Thunder team that struggles with a lot of shooters.

Thunder vs. Kings, same game play

Thunder -4.5

Jalen Williams Over 23.5 points

Keegan Murray Over 6.5 rebounds

When we’re trying to attack this mediocre Kings defense, there’s really no better guy to call than the indomitable Jalen Williams.

Williams took his chance and capitalized on it given Holmgren’s injury, surpassing that point total in five of his last six games and averaging 26.2 per contest. The Kings rank last in shots allowed at the rim and are sharp from mid-range and beyond the arc, which is good for Williams, who is an excellent shooter and creates plenty of space to shoot off the dribble.

The one area where Sacramento can really give Oklahoma City an edge is on the glass. Since we expect the underdogs to miss a lot, I’m interested in Keegan Murray, who has recorded three offensive rebounds in consecutive games and is now averaging eight goals in his last five games.

Oklahoma City allowed the 10Th-Most balls bounce to opposing forwards and end up last on the glass, giving Murray the opportunity to shine.
