There’s a lot going on with the New York Rangers today.

First, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported that the Rangers have made it very clear that they are interested in making changes and shaking up their roster, with the names of Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba mentioned as possible options for a move.

Now USA Today’s Vince Z. Mercogliano not only confirmed that report, but also provided insight into the turmoil and dysfunction within the Rangers organization.

“There is clearly unrest in the #NYR organization right now, with concern from above about the stalling of this core and increasing alarm from players/staff,” Mercogliano wrote via X. “But sources also reminded how rare/difficult big deals are this time are.” year.”

Although the Rangers currently have a record of 12-6-1, they clearly don’t look like the same team that won the Presidents’ Trophy last season.

Members of the team, particularly the management group, seemed to be hitting the panic button early in the year.

Mercogliano wrote that after New York’s 6-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night, Rangers general manager Chris Drury sent a message to all NHL general managers that he was open for business and motivated to get to the heart of the game to shake up teams.

It’s extremely difficult to make a monumental move at this point in the season, especially when it involves players like Kreider and Trouba, both of whom make more than $6 million per year.

Given these rumors and the potential upheaval the franchise could experience sooner rather than later, all eyes are on the Rangers.
