The Witcher Fans are still dying to see Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt in action. As we eagerly await the first trailer for season four of Netflix’s incredibly popular and controversial fantasy adaptation, Graham McTavish that promises even the most hardened Henry Cavill Fans will love Hemsworth’s portrayal of Geralt. McTavish plays Sigismund Dijkstra, the Redanian spy in the series who works closely with Henry Cavill for the first three seasons. After Cavill left the series after season three, Liam Hemsworth stepped in to wield the silver sword.

Speaking to The Nerd Shepherd, Graham McTavish said fans will love Liam Hemsworth’s performance and shared his thoughts on Netflix replacing Henry Cavill. “I can’t tell you much about that because they (Netflix) would kill me,” when asked about plot details for the third season. But the actor didn’t hold back in his praise for Hemsworth. McTavish said:

“I can tell you that I worked with Liam Hemsworth and what a joy it was. Splendid. I mean, they’re very lucky to have The Witcher, both Henry and Liam. There’s a lot in store – a lot of the usual ambiguity that you might expect from the characters.”

Netflix has only released a short clip of Liam Hemsworth wearing Geralt of Rivia’s white wig. The Australian actor certainly looks the part, but fans are curious to see whether Hemsworth can nail Geralt’s iconic gruff voice and how well it fits with Cavill’s performance. Die-hard Henry Cavill fans have already gone on the offensive and canceled the new season after leaked set photos showed Liam Hemsworth in full costume. These fans forget that cinematography, color grading and other visual effects will make the costumes look far better than would be possible in rainy weather in England (where the show is filmed).

Graham McTavish says ‘The Witcher’ is like ‘James Bond’

While the hardcore fans turned on Netflix The Witcher A long time ago, Henry Cavill’s departure seemed to be the final nail in the coffin for many. But Graham McTavish thinks fans should look beyond the cast because it doesn’t matter who plays Geralt, it just matters that they embody the character well, much like James Bond. And his comparison to 007 seems all the more appropriate considering Henry Cavill has long been the fan favorite, replacing Daniel Craig.

Fans loved Henry Cavill because he adored the franchise. But don’t forget that Liam Hemsworth is also a long-time Witcher fan.

McTavish also repeated a comparison Liam Hemsworth made earlier this year. Hemsworth said succeeding Henry Cavill felt like playing Doctor Who, where so many famous actors have already taken on the challenge. McTavish said:

“It’s like
Doctor Who
. It doesn’t seem to be affected. It’s really about staying true to the world, and as long as the actor is good and the scripts stay good – which they have – I think the transition will actually be very, very seamless.”

No release date has been announced for Season 4 of The Witcher still. Filming is currently in its final stages and should be completed soon. Netflix has already announced that the franchise will end after the fifth season and production will begin in the new year.
