Snow White has proven to be Disney’s most controversial live-action remake to date. Part of this is due to comments from lead actress Rachel Zegler and others, which some perceive as “woke” changes to the story.

Rumor has it that the original plans called for abandoning the Seven Dwarves in lieu of a diverse group of bandits. However, it is expected that the latter group will continue to be taken into account Snow WhiteExtensive changes were made in the reshoots to bring this version more in line with the 1937 animated classic.

If this new trailer is any indication, Snow White Now there’s a better chance of keeping fans on site, as it looks more like what we’ve come to expect from these live-action retellings (albeit with a few modern twists).

Although this sneak peek is in Full HD, it hasn’t been “officially” released by Disney yet. Instead, Disney Ukraine appears to have jumped the gun and released the preview somewhere where impatient fans can access it. It’s hard to say why the studio hasn’t already released the official version, especially when there have been leaks of varying quality all over social media for days.

Regardless, Zegler is the perfect representation of the iconic Disney princess here; What Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot’s version of the Evil Queen, there is already criticism on social media over what they see as the actor’s wooden portrayal.

Addressing the decision by some to boycott Snow White because she doesn’t have “skin as white as snow,” Zegler – which many of you will remember from her glamorous appearance Shazam! Rage of the gods – recently said: “It harked back to another version of ‘Snow White’ where she survived a blizzard as a baby.”

“So the king and queen decided to name her Snow White to remind her of her resilience.” she added, before clarifying her previous comments that Prince Charming resembled a “stalker” in the original film.

“Honestly, it made me sad that it was taken that way because I believe women can do anything. But I also believe they can do anything.” Zegler explained. “The love story is very important. A lot of people have written that we’re not doing (this storyline) anymore – we always did; it just wasn’t what we talked about that day.”

Snow White is a musical live-action reinterpretation of the classic 1937 film. The magical musical adventure travels back into timeless history with the beloved characters Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy and Sneezy.

The film is directed by Marc Webb and produced by Marc Platt and Jared LeBoff, with Callum McDougall serving as executive producer, and features brand new original songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

Disney’s Snow White opens exclusively in cinemas on March 21, 2025.
