Ben Affleck bonds with ex-wife Jennifer Garner on Thanksgiving while Jennifer Lopez goes through divorce: ‘He’s very happy’ “You could hear the bang, bang, bang,” witnesses recall of their experiences during the Park Plaza Mall shooting

When Zach Collins said the team stopped thinking about what they missed when some of their guys were out, he wasn’t lying. The Spurs continue to prove that they are as strong a team as there is currently in the NBA. There was no Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson or Jeremy Sochan, but San Antonio found a way to beat the Warriors by relying on its two young stars late in the ballgame.

Before Victor Wembanyama returned, Stephon Castle was drawing praise left and right for his play and attitude. The question arose about a nickname for him and Wemby, and fans had apparently agreed on one before the Golden State game. By the time the game ended, the nickname had fully taken hold and Area 51 was born.

The Splash Bros. gets an honorable mention as the second best nickname, but other than the Twin Towers, I can’t think of any others that were great but don’t fit in with the other two. Area 51 gets the nod for best name because it works on multiple levels. The government area Area 51 is a no-fly zone for civilian or military aircraft. This is a highly secure area.

Of course, with defense being Wembanyama and Castle’s calling card, the connection is easy to see. Rumor has it that Area 51 is guarded by alien creatures or alien-adjacent objects. Do you see where this is going? Their jersey numbers top it all off, making it the most perfect pseudonym ever. Plus, it sounds so cool.

More important than cool points, however, is living up to the name – this Is a competition.

The Spurs got help from several players, but it wasn’t their best night of ballgames as a group. They had to rely on their defense to get the job done, and they did, going all out in the fourth quarter.

Last night’s performance was like warming up an old car. It took a while to get going, but when it did, it didn’t let you down. The defense is old and reliable for San Antonio, yet they allowed the Warriors to drop 31 points in the third quarter. That was their best performance of the year, but they only won it by two points, so they turned up their defense in the fourth period and shut down one of the best offenses in the league.

Steph Castle suffocated Steph Curry all night, but helped force the Chef into three turnovers in the game’s closing stages. Victor Wembanyama was all over the field, denying the Warrior’s actions and making them think twice about challenging him in the paint. In the fourth quarter alone, he increased his stats by two blocks, helping Golden State hold on to 13 points while SA dropped 33.

This team turned a 17-point deficit into a 10-point win over the best team in the Western Conference without several key pieces.

It was an emphatic victory achieved by sticking together and channeling the energy when it was needed most: to finish the game. That’s what Chris Paul showed the guys and that’s what they did with the Point God on the bench to finish most of the game. What a night.
