The Kansas City Royals have traded right-hander Brady Singer to the Cincinnati Reds for infielder Jonathan India and outfielder Joey Wiemer, the teams announced Friday.

The 28-year-old Singer went 9-13 with a 3.71 ERA last season, starting 32 games for the Royals while helping them to an unexpected playoff berth. In total, he made 127 starts in five years for Kansas City and posted a 4.28 ERA. His only down season was in 2023, when he had a 5.52 ERA.

India, 27, hit .248 with 15 home runs in 2024 while playing exclusively second base. A four-year veteran, he has a career OPS of .764 after winning Rookie of the Year honors in 2021 when he hit a career-high 21 home runs.

Wiemer, 25, will join his third major league team after joining the Milwaukee Brewers in 2023 before playing for Cincinnati last season. He has a career batting average of .201 in 153 games.

The deal fills the needs of both teams as the Royals were looking for offensive reinforcements alongside star shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. Their starting team, which had the second-best ERA in the majors, gave them the opportunity to move a rotation arm to fill their offensive needs at the plate.

The Reds are now a solid starter for a team that has struggled with injuries in recent seasons. Cincinnati ranked 16th in starters ERA last season and had a void on its roster after the team traded right-hander Frankie Montas to the Brewers last summer. Singer was a pitcher for Team USA in the 2023 World Baseball Classic.
