The Boston Red Sox are clearly looking for ways to increase offense and hope to make a splash.

It seems like Boston is eager to sign New York Yankees superstar Juan Soto. That’s not too shocking since he’s only 26 years old and is a generational talent who could certainly be inducted into the Hall of Fame if things continue the way they have so far throughout his career.

He’s the type of player you bet everything on and is expected to get a deal that could be around $600 million. However, Boston has stiff competition for his services as the Yankees, New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies are also involved.

Signing Soto would be the best possible move, but there are options if the Red Sox miss out on him. MLB Network’s Jon Morosi even said that Boston is among the top two candidates to sign All-Star slugger Teoscar Hernández with Los Angeles.

“If Juan Soto goes somewhere else, get ready to hear a lot of talk about Teoscar and the Boston Red Sox,” Morosi said. “I think that the two best candidates at the moment to sign Teoscar Hernández are; the Dodgers and the Red Sox.”

Hernandez is to get projected a three-year, $71 million deal with Spotrac this winter. That would certainly cost less than the roughly $600 million that was speculated for Soto. While that is the case, the Red Sox should continue to go all out for Soto. Who knows what will happen? Perhaps Boston will shock the baseball world.

If not, signing Hernández would be a great addition.
