ARLINGTON, Texas – The Texas Rangers have set coach Bruce Bochy’s coaching staff on the field for 2025, including the addition of replacement coach Luis Urueta after he spent the last two seasons in the same role for Miami.

Texas also announced Tuesday that Dave Bush will serve as assistant pitching coach and Jordan Tiegs will serve as bullpen coach after both previously served in the organization. The Rangers named Justin Viel as hitting coach this month after he spent five seasons in the same role with San Francisco.

Urueta joined the Rangers after former Marlins manager Skip Schumaker was hired this month as a senior adviser for baseball operations.

There are seven returning staff members: pitching coach Mike Maddux, offensive coordinator Donnie Ecker, first base coach Corey Ragsdale, third base coach Tony Beasley, catching coach Bobby Wilson, assistant hitting coach Seth Conner and quality control coach Brett Hayes. Beasley is the longest-tenured Rangers coach and is entering his 11th season.

The only Bochy employees who did not return for the 2024 season moved on to other major league teams. Will Venable was hired as manager of the Chicago White Sox after serving as Bochy’s assistant manager, and hitting coach Tim Hyers assumed the same role with Atlanta.

Urueta was part of Arizona’s big league squad from 2018 to 2021, the last two years as a replacement coach. Bush served as the Rangers’ on-field and front-office director of pitching strategy, while Tiegs served as the organization’s pitching coordinator for three years.
