The Panthers have updated the cornerback depth chart after claiming a veterinary waiver from the Vikings

Many people take Thanksgiving week off. NFL teams don’t have such luxuries and the Carolina Panthers are still struggling to compete in the NFC South. Although they currently sit in last place in the division at 3-8, they are also just three games out of first place with six games to go. So Panthers general manager Dan Morgan made some moves Tuesday to add depth at a top position ahead of the final stretch of the regular season.

The team has claimed former Minnesota Vikings cornerback Akayleb Evans off waivers. Evans is a former fourth-round draft pick by the Vikings in 2022. However, he had only played three defensive snaps for Minnesota so far this season. To make room for him on the 53-man roster, the Panthers waived defensive end Charles Harris, who has since been claimed by the Philadelphia Eagles after placing Brandon Graham on IR.

While Carolina’s edge rotation is finally on solid footing, the cornerback group is still undecided, which is why Evans (6-foot-8, 198 pounds) is being considered. In the modern NFL, every back-end position is fluid, but here’s our guess at what the team’s depth chart at corner looks like heading into Week 13.

Evans probably won’t see the field much other than on special teams unless either Horn or Jackson gets injured in the final games of the year.
