Michelle Yeoh has been entertaining audiences on both the big and small screen for decades.

But this year’s highly anticipated film adaptation of Evil is actually the first musical to feature the Oscar winner.

Yeoh told Today Evil Director Jon M Chu actually had the role of Madame Morrible in mind, but for an obvious reason it was a bit more convincing.

“I read it straight away and said, ‘But Jon, it’s a musical – she sings, right? Well, you know, I don’t sing,'” Yeoh told Today.

“Then I get a video of stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande saying, ‘Hi, it’s imperative that you join us now,’ so how do you say no to two angels, right?”

“So if you have to do it, you better do it with the best, right?”

Principal photography for both Evil Parts one and two began in December 2022 and filming ended in January this year.

But even though it’s been months since filming and the stars are in the middle of their international press tour, Yeoh surprisingly revealed that she still hasn’t seen the film.

“I haven’t seen it yet, I’m waiting to attend the premiere tomorrow night with everyone in the audience, because for me going to the cinema is a shared experience, so I’ll save it all for tomorrow,” she said.

But Today entertainment reporter Renee Bargh warned Yeoh that she’d better make sure she had a pack of tissues on hand to see how emotional the film gets.

“I heard this, someone told me to make sure I wear mascara that doesn’t run,” Yeoh said.

Evil Part one hits Australian cinemas on November 21st.
