The Nintendo Switch 2 release date and big announcement have just been revealed

Nintendo has been pretty tight-lipped about the Nintendo Switch sequel, aside from confirming that 1) the console is coming and 2) the Nintendo Switch 2 will be released before the end of March 2025.

Still, people want to know when exactly we can expect the Switch successor, and a new leak from CentroLeaks on

This is just hearsay, but it lines up with previous launch leaks. CentroLeaks is usually a leaker of Pokémon information, and the leak did not come from them. Instead, it comes from a supposedly reliable Weibo poster who leaked “pretty much everything” about the recent Nintendo Direct.

It is a web of leaks that purport to come from sources believed to be generally accurate. As a reminder, take leaks with a grain of salt. A two-month cycle between release and announcement would be surprising for Nintendo. The original Switch was announced in October 2016 before launching in March 2017. Previous Nintendo consoles followed similar timelines. It’s not impossible, but it would be unprecedented.

In the meantime, we know that the Switch 2 will be backwards compatible with Switch games. We expect it will have an OLED display and possibly two processors, one in the handheld console and one in the docking station.

The Joy-Cons will receive a redesign including magnetic attachment and a larger size.

We’ll know more when Nintendo officially announces the console, possibly in January but definitely before the end of March next year.
