The Masked Singer reveals Royal Knight and Sherlock Hound

Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Masked Singer Season 12, Episode 9, “Peanuts Night.”

There was a lot to be thankful for this week Masked singer episode – not only was it the Group C finale with epic performances and a battle royal, but the entire Peanuts gang also stuck around for all of the Thanksgiving festivities.

After all, nothing says “Thanksgiving” like that A Charlie Brown Thanksgivingthat has been providing family fun, traditions and memories for over 50 years. Kicking off the episode, the Peanuts characters joined panelists Rita Ora and Robin Thicke on stage as they celebrated Turkey Day with their falsetto rendition of “You Make My Dreams Come True” by Daryl Hall and John Oates.

In one of the best moments of the season, the families of the panelists – including Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg’s husband Donnie, Ora’s husband Taika Waititi, Ken Jeong’s wife Ho and dog Mocha, Thicke’s children and… some from host Nick Cannon’s brood (we didn’t have all day, after all) – submitted heartwarming and hilarious videos celebrating the holiday and its respective observances Masked Actor.

The rest of the episode focused on the Group C final, and the celebrities appropriately gave Thanksgiving-themed clues, belting out hits like “I Hope You Dance” (Strawberry Shortcake), “Holiday” (Royal Knight), and “Ho Hey” ( Sherlock Hound).

Since the Ding Dong Keep It On Bell had already been used, two people had to go home to make way for a final quarterfinalist, and Royal Knight was the first contestant to be sent home. Guesses about them varied a bit – Ora chose Anna Faris, Jeong chose Kelly Ripa and Thicke chose Busy Philipps. In the end, McCarthy-Wahlberg earned a second Thanksgiving helping because she correctly recognized that Royal Knight was a singer, best-selling author and… A tree hill Star Jana Kramer (see our interview with her below).

This sent Sherlock Hound and Strawberry Shortcake to the final battle royal of the season, where they each performed their version of “Shivers” by Ed Sheeran. In the end, Sherlock Hound was sent to prison, and some panelists were even more grateful for their guesses. Although McCarthy-Wahlberg and Ora were wrong in their guesses about Scott Stapp and Hozier, respectively, both Jeong and Thicke correctly picked former professional baseball pitcher and musician Bronson Arroyo.

This concludes the Group C final, meaning Strawberry Shortcake is the final quarterfinalist alongside Goo, Buffalo and Wasp in next week’s “Quarterfinal” episode. Before that, Weekly entertainment Kramer caught up to digest it Masked singer Experience, court about how it compares to Dancing with the starsand what the latest update is A tree hill start anew.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What motivated you to become a recording artist? The Masked Singer?

JANA KRAMER: I just thought it would be so much fun. My kids and I loved watching the show together as a family. It was just one of those shows where I thought, man, it would be so much fun to just go up there and it’s such a wild idea, such a wild show, but just have fun.

Did your kids know you were doing it, or will there be a big Thanksgiving surprise for them this week?

No, I told them, of course I had to tell them that I was going to Los Angeles to film and they were going on their beach trip with their dad. And they were so excited and I wanted them to feel a part of it too and see me in the costume or help with ideas and things like that. So it was fun to let them be a part of it.

Their masked ambassador was Savannah Chrisley. Were you able to talk to her before the show or share your experiences?

Savannah and I have been friends for a long time and are both incredibly busy. But I texted her and said, “Hey girl, they showed me a list of people who could be my ambassadors. Are you cool if you do it?” And she’s like, “Absolutely.” So we just texted and chatted about it because she’s so crazy about everything and I have the kids too. It’s kind of a texting thing, but I love her and she’s a great girl. She just said, “Have fun, it’s great fun.”

You did that too Dancing with the stars. How did this experience compare to The Masked Singer?

In my opinion they were light years different just because I felt like there was more pressure applied Dancing with the stars as with Masked singer. I mean, the experience was so much fun from the start. And I’m not saying that Dancing with the stars It wasn’t fun, it was just more pressure. With Masked singerIt was like even the producers said, “Go out there and have a great time.” Just go and warm up the audience. Have fun.” And that’s what it was all about. And also, you wear a mask so people don’t really know who you are. So it’s like you can really go out there and not really, I mean, you still care, but you also go out there and it’s not just focused on you because you can hide under the mask a little bit , which is kind of nice. And then Dancing with the starsit’s all you and all eyes are on you. Everyone knows it’s you, and that’s why you’re chosen at the first step. With Masked singerit’s like going out and having fun – I mean, some of the best singers soon went home because they weren’t having fun – so I think it’s one of those things where it definitely just made it more fun has.

Participants usually tell me that singing with a mask is strangely liberating, even for professional singers.

Secure. When I do shows and stuff, I judge myself and I know that I will be judged on stage. And then with The Masked SingerI thought I could just go out and have a good time without caring what anyone else thought. And if I don’t hit the note perfectly, that’s okay because everything is fine. And I feel like I do better singing with a mask on because I just didn’t have that insecurity.

What’s next for you and do you have any further updates on it? A tree hill start anew?

I mean, I’m not sure. Sophia (Bush) and I have definitely talked about it and they have some great plans for the show so hopefully my character (Alex Dupre) can come back one day. But we’ll see. And I have two films next year at the start of the year. I can’t talk about them yet, but I’m really excited. So I have some really cool projects coming up that I have to prepare for. And then we’ll see what’s next, and then the podcast (Complain with Jana Kramer) always runs in the background.

What have you taken with you? Masked singer Experience?

I think just go out, whether you wear a mask or not, just go out and have fun. I think we take things very seriously. And the show is just about having fun, cheering people on and putting a smile on their faces. And we can do that. We can do this at any time, not just on this stage. I think it’s just about remembering how much fun that was and that we can still do that (in life).
