Ben Affleck bonds with ex-wife Jennifer Garner on Thanksgiving while Jennifer Lopez goes through divorce: ‘He’s very happy’ “You could hear the bang, bang, bang,” witnesses recall of their experiences during the Park Plaza Mall shooting

If meeting your married billionaire boyfriend in his panic room is your thing, then I have good news for you this week NCIS.

Of course, it doesn’t end well for the sexy young thing (Alisa Allapach), who realizes his dream when masked men break into the mansion with zip ties and chloroform. When her married billionaire friend (Travis Schuldt) freezes, she is forced to grab one of the guns on the wall of the panic room to shoot one of the intruders herself, and she ends up in the guise of her married billionaire friend’s wife when NCIS shows up to question them.

But this episode isn’t about the mistress. It’s about the woman.

Melinda Martin (Brianna Brown) is unimpressed by the young girlfriend, the excessive blood and the dead man in her house. At some point the imperious blonde curtly tells the police officers investigating the crime scene: “Give us the room.” They pick up, but barely.

Freddie Martin, a major defense contractor whose company was valued at over $200 billion last year, is the obvious target of this kidnapping plot, and Melinda is the obvious suspect. But she just raises an eyebrow and says coolly, “If I had had my husband kidnapped, it would have worked.”

I for one believe her and would happily sign up for any long-term life coaching package she offers.

Oddly enough, she seems to care far more about the gossip blogs picking up the story than about her husband’s extracurricular sex life or the fact that she appears to be the kidnappers’ real target, which is what Kasie (Diona Reasonover) and Jimmy (Brian Dietzen ) learned from the surveillance photos on the dead intruder’s phone.

Parker (Gary Cole) immediately assigns Melinda a bodyguard in the form of “Agent Useless,” aka Jessica Knight (Katrina Law), who bosses Melinda around throughout the episode and treats her with barely concealed contempt.

The derogatory behavior continues as Knight accompanies Melinda to her house to pack some things for the safe house. Melinda criticizes Knight’s skincare and shoe choices before concluding that Jess is using her career to hide from something and suggests our trusty agent consider freezing her eggs. It’s… it’s a lot in 60 seconds.

Meanwhile, Knight secretly takes a photo of the contents of Melinda’s jewelry box and, unfortunately, makes a deal with this (respectful) bulldozer: she will put on tennis whites and go to the country club with Melinda in exchange for Melinda’s obedience to Knight’s security requirements thereafter.

On the court at the Georgetown Tennis Club, the two women begin to see different sides of each other. Melinda is impressed by Knight’s athletic ability and Knight is impressed by Melinda’s wisdom and quiet compassion.

Melinda points out that the wealthy club members sipping G&Ts at 12:15 on a Tuesday afternoon are networking to secure money for bills or campaigns. And of course, Melinda herself kept her tennis date because her opponent will likely contribute to Melinda’s foundation, which is dedicated to finding homes for orphans. The $50 million Brighter Days Fund bank account is likely why Melinda is being targeted.

Oh, and did you think the boys have been slacking off while Knight has been doing his duty as a high-maintenance socialite with a heart of gold? Hell no. Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) and McGee (Sean Murray) were busy investigating the real mystery of the week: whose leather jacket did Jess wear at home the night before?

So what happened was that last night at her sister’s party to celebrate Robin’s graduation from the online millinery academy, Jess drank so much that, according to Torres, “a rhinoceros would have been hungover.”

And while our fair agent doesn’t need the electrolytes, ibuprofen, and vitamin C Torres brought her that morning, she’s also not sure whose leather jacket was slung around her shoulders at the end of the night. So that’s what the boys are working on this week, alongside solving the whole murder/kidnapping situation.

The case of the leather jacket explodes when Nick and Tim find a sticker with a barcode inside and Palmer uses his family’s dry cleaning connections to track down the owner.

Of course, he wasn’t aware that he was tracking down Jess’s mysterious admirer, and it baffles him for about 20 seconds until it turns out the owner is an older, not-so-handsome actuary from Bethesda. “I thought Jess always liked the cool guys,” marvels Jimmy.

Okay, well, the guys also discovered that there is no record of Melinda before 2002 and that her maiden name actually belonged to a woman who died 22 years ago. Kasie uses tattoo ink to reveal that the dead intruder is Eddie the Loan Shark, a Kansas City Royals fan from Missouri who broke his probation to come to DC

When Knight receives a text message with this information, Melinda loses her meek demeanor and insists that they return to her house to retrieve her forgotten Invisalign treatment. She then proves she has something to hide by luring Knight into the panic room and locking her there.

But hey, it gives Knight time to look at the pictures she took of Melinda’s jewelry, and the battered class ring from Mt. Washington High in Kansas City catches her eye.

Jessica Knight, meet April Day, the valedictorian and homecoming queen who grew up in a trailer park and disappeared about 20 years ago with her homecoming king boyfriend, Jason Marino.

Parker provides the next part of the mystery: he recognizes Jason from a case he worked on for years at the FBI. Jason is the long-deceased son of Carla Marino, the matriarch of the Midwest’s largest organized crime family.

Vance (Rocky Carroll) and Parker wonder aloud if Carla brought Melinda into D.C. society to lure a defense contractor into the crime family’s web. And when the team follows Melinda to Rock Creek Park, where she met with an Episcopal priest from upstate New York, they find the man dead and high-heeled footprints leading away from the crime scene.

Meanwhile, Knight tracks down Melinda, but the two women end up thrown into the back of a refrigerated truck. Carla Marino calls her kidnapper henchmen and instructs them to swab April-turned-Melinda’s cheek for DNA.

So of course there is a child. As the meat truck takes the women to an unknown destination and Jess finds a way to cut their zip ties (that’s why there always has to be a henchman in the back of your kidnap truck!), Melinda reveals her story.

She and Jason ran away from his horrible family, but he died in a motorcycle accident in Maryland. She was three months pregnant and was very afraid of losing her child to Carla. So a kind pastor in upstate New York buried Jason and helped arrange a closed adoption for their daughter. RIP to Rev. Carter who was killed for keeping Melinda’s secrets.

If you think this story reflects the extent of Melinda’s toughness, then you haven’t seen how she and Knight literally took down their captors with meat hammers. It’s as impressive and terrifying as it sounds.

Armed with Melinda’s full story, the team is able to track down her biological daughter Lauren and set a trap for Carla (Rebecca De Mornay, fabulous as always!) when the crime boss comes to pick up her granddaughter.

Carla and Parker clearly have a cat-and-mouse history (seriously, right?). someone The chemistry between Gary Cole and?), but Carla calmly points out that her hands have been kept clean and her people are ready to take responsibility for any crimes. She is simply a worried grandmother who has been searching for her relatives since she saw a photo of her dead son’s long-lost girlfriend in April Day Georgetown Living Magazine.

Parker threatens Carla to stay away from Melinda and Lauren, but do any of us believe for one minute that the Queen of the Midwest will respect that?

Knight and Day’s new friendship survives the end of the case and they agree to meet for tennis at a location Jess chooses (a local high school, and Knight gets to choose her own outfit this time). Jess then encourages Melinda to enter the flower shop where her daughter (Tabitha Brownstone) works. Finally, Lauren added her DNA to the database to find her bio-parents.

Knight then watches from the car as Melinda cautiously approaches the daughter she hasn’t seen in 22 years and begins an emotional statement that is cut short when Lauren walks around the counter and goes for a hug, which Melinda slowly settles into relaxed.

Missed shots

  • OK, NCIS is fed up with guest stars this season. Hollywood, please cast Brianna Brown and Eliza Coupe in a sister sitcom and let these two women cook.
  • If you’re as interested in the romantic saga of Jimmy and Jess as I am, please know that the cool leather jacket actually belongs to the actuary’s son, a bass player in a band. And although Knight doesn’t stay to meet him when he picks up his things, she instructs her wingmen to let her know if he’s cute. Watch here to see how the situation develops in future episodes.
  • If you’re looking for “a glimpse of a long-lost figure in the media that leads to chaos over secret identities,” I recommend the movie “Geena Davis.” The long kiss goodnight? It’s my “Die Hard is a Christmas movie” – a Christmas movie that is also my Roman Empire, so to speak, and I need more people to see it and love it the way I do.
  • Happy Thanksgiving everyone! And remember: never bring a knife to a meat hammer fight.
