The Tata Nexon has dominated the sub-4 meter SUV segment since its launch in 2017. Its fresh design, practicality, quality interior and affordability have made it popular among buyers. The availability of multiple powertrains and variants not only accommodates different customer needs, but also maximizes profitability and gives the company a competitive advantage. Additionally, the Nexon is India’s first compact SUV to achieve a 5-star safety rating in Global NCAP. This compact SUV received its first midlife update in 2020 and its second major update in 2023.

The competition for the Tata Nexon is getting tougher with the launch of three new models. Let’s take a look at the key details of these upcoming vehicles.

Kia Syros

Design sketch of the Kia Compact SUV

The Kia Syros (codename AY) will make its global debut in the coming weeks, while its launch will take place early next year. This new subcompact SUV will draw design inspiration from the globally sold EV9 and the new Carnival. Spy images confirm that the Syros will have an upright and boxy stance with high ground clearance. Its headlights and DRLs are inspired by the new Kia EV9 – the South Korean automaker’s flagship electric SUV. His test car was equipped with two different two-tone 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

On the inside, the new Kia Syros will feature a Seltos-inspired digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system. Other key features include a panoramic sunroof, synthetic leather upholstery, ventilated and power-adjustable front seats, traction modes, a Bose audio system, air conditioning and more. The ADAS suite could only be offered with the higher trim levels. The Syros will reportedly come with multiple powertrain options, including an electric version at a later date.

New generation Hyundai venue

Introducing a new generation venue

Last month we saw the first spy images of the new generation Hyundai Venue. Codenamed QU2i, this subcompact SUV is expected to launch in the first half of 2025. While the discovered test mule was fully camouflaged, its original boxy stance was clearly visible. Most of the design changes will be inspired by the Creta and Alcazar facelifts. The split-pattern headlight cluster is similar to the Creta, while the front grille and bumper are wider and taller respectively. The prototype also included a module for ADAS. There will also be some changes at the rear.

The interior will see minimal updates. The dashboard will be redesigned and new trim and upholstery could also be introduced. The material quality could also be improved. The 2025 Hyundai Venue could come with a panoramic sunroof. The existing 1.0-liter turbo gasoline engines, 1.2-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engines and 1.5-liter diesel engines will be taken over with the generation change.
