Snow emergency declared for the city of Erie, odd-even parking spaces extended

(WJET/WFXP) – City of Erie Mayor Joe Schember has declared a snow emergency for the remainder of the weekend.

The snow emergency is in effect for the City of Erie Friday through Sunday due to large amounts of snow and inclement weather, with odd and even parking extended through the weekend.

Residents are asked to follow regulations so that plows can safely clear streets and emergency vehicles through as quickly as possible. The city said Erie police will also be involved in ticket sales.

If it is an odd calendar day (example: November 29th), you would park on the north or west side of your street, if it is an even calendar day (example: November 30th), you would park on the south or east side of the street Street.

Residents who live on a cul-de-sac are asked to try to park in their driveway and residents who live where there are no odd and even parking spaces are asked to try to park all on the same side of the street in order to to create enough space for the plow to make it to the middle of the road.

Additionally, residents are asked to stay as far away from city streets as possible so that crews can efficiently clear snow and keep our streets safe.
