Simone Biles is joining “The Voice” as a playoff consultant and some fans are stunned by the surprising choice.

On Thursday, NBC announced that the Olympic gold medalist, the most decorated gymnast in history, will appear as an adviser to Team Snoop on the network’s flagship singing competition after rap legend Snoop Dogg recruited her for the position.

Biles, known as the GOAT, is coming off a breakthrough run at her third Olympics in Paris, where she won four medals: three gold medals in the team, all-around and vault events, and a silver medal in the floor exercise.

Biles’ “The Voice” episode premieres Monday at 7 p.m. local time. In a recent interview, Biles told the Associated Press that she and Snoop Dogg were a duo that deserved a gold medal.

“We were able to tease each other and give the artists the best insight into the next round,” Biles said in an interview with the AP. “It was pretty easy, really easy. We are both very relaxed. But if we have to muster that energy, then we can. For us it was about instilling confidence for the next week.”

‘I would know’: Commentators defend Simone Biles’ performance after some are ‘stunned’

But some fans were “flabbergasted” by the decision to have Biles, while others on IG defended the GOAT.

The decision was criticized and praised by various users in the comments section of the official Biles announcement.

One user wrote: “She’s great no offense but she’s not a singer and can’t help them in the way they need.”

Another threw shade at Biles and Snoop Dogg, saying that “the contestants on this team actually feel sorry for themselves…they don’t get any credible musical advice from an experienced musician like the other teams do.”

“I love her,” one said, but continued, writing: “I’m amazed.”

Others sided with Biles, with one Instagram user writing, “I was expecting someone from the music industry, but she can actually give me great advice on how to prepare for the stage, etc. I’m excited to see how it goes.” .”

“This makes perfect sense considering these people can already SING and they need training in stage presence, confidence and performance, which she is an expert at,” one commenter said in defense of Biles.

Even Season 23 finalist Noivas Wright defended the Olympic champion before appearing on “The Voice.”

“People don’t realize that Simone can actually give great advice on performance, routine, stage presence and confidence. It’s not just about “the voice”. “You can already sing, you don’t need advice…trust me, I would know as a cast member of the show,” Wright wrote.
