Robin Roberts is missing from GMA after an eventful week

Robin Roberts missed Friday Good morning America in a show that comes at the end of a big week for them.

The star was replaced by Rebecca Jarvis alongside George Stephanopoulos and Michael Strahan.

Viewers wondered where the presenter was and asked about her whereabouts on the show’s social media.

It’s likely that Robin is taking a little time off before her birthday this weekend. She turns 64 on November 23rd and her wife Amber Laign is undoubtedly up to something.

Robin had further cause for celebration this week as she was honored with the Poynter Medal for Lifetime Achievement in Journalism.

The award honors outstanding journalists who have significantly shaped the profession.

She is best known for her work on ESPN’s GMA, where she has served as co-host since 2005.

But before landing these roles, Robin was a sports reporter for local television stations in the South.

Back then she had to fight to get the same opportunities as her male colleagues.

“This was primarily a time when women didn’t have access to the dressing room,” she told reporters at the Poynter’s Bowtie Ball. “And I said, ‘I don’t want equal access to the dressing room.’ I want equal access to the athletes so I can do my job.’”

Of her determination, she added: “If someone was going to give me a hard time because I wanted to be a sports journalist, then do it.” That’s how I saw it: ‘Keep going.'”

Her persistence paid off and Robin’s career went from strength to strength.

She loves the “ever-changing” nature of her chosen career and the fact that no two days are the same

“Journalism is important, and because it is important, I want to be a part of it. I would like to develop further with it. That’s why every day is a new day for me.”

Robin’s job takes her all over the world and just this week she went on assignment to the UK.

It was a fleeting visit as she returned to the studios in New York within a day or two.

Away from the small screen, Robin has a wonderful personal life with Amber.

They live in Farmington, Connecticut, where they married in September 2023.

In December 2022, they proposed to each other and tied the knot in the backyard of their house.
