The Boston Bruins will look to expand their offensive game against the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight.
After a shutout and a few lower-scoring games, albeit victories, the Bruins’ six goals in Wednesday’s 6-3 victory over the New York Islanders are the most they have scored in a game this season. It is also the same as they had scored in their previous four games. The B’s last six goals came in the home game against Montreal.
Wednesday’s win was a good night for the Bruins’ top six forwards, who posted two- and three-point nights. They’ll try to hang on against a Pittsburgh team that has the highest goals-against/game average at 3.96.
And on the other hand, the Bruins have the second-to-last lowest average in the league for goals per game played at 2.38 goals.
While David Pastrnak has recorded five assists in his last five games, he has now gone six games without scoring.
Pittsburgh last played on Wednesday and ended a three-game losing streak when it beat the Vancouver Canucks 5-4 – a day after the Canucks blanked the B’s.
It’s another return game for a former Bruin as Matt Grzelcyk is back at TD Garden. So far this season, Grzelcyk has eight points and eight assists in 24 games. Expect a video welcoming his return to Boston tonight.
