PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Now that the holiday season is in full swing, so are Portland’s offerings of seasonal festivities.

Check out the fun activities and events happening in the city this weekend.

When: Friday, November 29th from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m

Weeks after a 75-foot-tall Douglas fir was delivered downtown, residents will attend the 40th annual tree lighting ceremony downtown. The ceremony also includes performances by local groups and solo acts, such as Thomas Lauderdale of the Portland-based band Pink Martini.

Celebrate Taylor Swift’s birthday early with a party featuring the best hits from the pop star’s extensive discography. Attendees of this event, ages 21 and older, are encouraged to wear outfits from their favorite Swift era.

Music venue and nightclub Holocene is honoring Missy Elliott with an evening dedicated to her well-known tracks, including “Work It” and “Lose Control.” In addition, the DJ will play hip-hop, pop and rock songs from the 90s and early 2000s.

When: Saturday, November 30th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, December 1st from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m

The DoubleTree Hotel in the Lloyd District hosts Geek the Halls, an annual holiday fair that features crafts from dozens of artists and entrepreneurs. The fair is free on both days.

The Portland Metro Chamber recognizes small businesses with a celebration at Director Park. The celebration will include live music from singer-songwriter Jay Ringer and a scavenger hunt led by visual artist Mike Bennett.

When: Saturday, November 30th at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 1st at 2:00 p.m
Where: Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, 1037 SW Broadway, Portland, OR 97205

The Oregon Symphony will perform tunes composed by Danny Elfman for Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice,” “Edward Scissorhands,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and more while images from each film are presented on the big screen.

Shortly after its first anniversary, PAM CUT’s Tomorrow Theater starts December with the classic Christmas film “Home Alone” starring Macalauy Caulkin.
