2024 North Carolina vs. Villanova – Women

Final: North Carolina wins 53-36

While the fourth quarter was more even in terms of scoring, Villanova was unable to overcome its large deficit and fell behind by nearly 20 points. The difference in scoring was actually due to Villanova not hitting clean shots because North Carolina was shooting so much to bother them defensively. North Carolina will advance to the championship game tomorrow while Villanova will play for third place.

Third quarter: North Carolina doubles its lead

In a relatively low-scoring third quarter, North Carolina extended its lead to 44-23, except for both teams exchanging free throws. While both teams have around 40 shots, North Carolina looks far better, with nearly 50% overall accuracy and 30% accuracy on three-point shots. Villanova struggled shooting overall, making just 20% of their shots in the fourth period.

Lexi Donarski scored the first points of the second quarter with a quick layup a minute and a half into the quarter. With a lead of 21:7, Lara Edmanson and Maddie Webber were able to extend the lead a little, but North Carolina was able to hold steady until halftime.
