Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have been turning heads for weeks after a series of bizarre interviews during the Wicked press tour – and now another frightening moment is catching fans’ attention.

In another bizarre clip that went viral on X, formerly known as Twitter, Cynthia broke down in tears because she was wearing her character Elphaba’s green makeup on set.

The two women met with a Pink News reporter last week to promote their highly anticipated film adaptation of the popular Broadway musical.

During the interview, 37-year-old Cynthia appeared visually emotional as she explained that removing green makeup daily made her feel more comfortable in her own appearance.

The clip showed Ariana, 31, also appearing emotional over the comment, clutching Cynthia’s hand and breathlessly praising her beauty.

Film fans had a lot to say about the clip, with some joking that the interview seemed like “an emotional support group,” while others said the awkward press tour put them off watching the film.

Cynthia said, “I’m human and I feel and I have feelings and I can share them.” Ariana interjected and said, “And if you have to cry now, then cry.”

The actor continued: “Someone once said to me that the green is what I like most about Elphaba and that I would like to stay green, but as a green person I loved playing that character, but every time “When I took the makeup off, I…” I loved who I was even more.

She tearfully added: “So I felt really beautiful.” Ariana added: “You f***ing are! Holy shit, you know?’

At the end of the clip, the reporter explained that it was her first outing and the couple praised her efforts.

Ariana said, “Well, you were the light of the world, you were a gift.” Cynthia added, “You brought so much light into the room. Thank you for coming to this room today. We needed your presence.”

On social media, film fans claimed the awkward interaction stopped them from seeing the film in cinemas.

One person wrote: “I’m old enough to remember when press tours made me want to see the film.”

Another added: “The promotion of this film so disgusts me. ‘I refuse to see it.’

Another said: “Wow… I won’t be watching this any more than I planned.”

Someone else added: “You’d think these two idiots had just developed a cure for cancer.”

A fifth said: “Is there such a thing as an anti-ad?” I didn’t know much about it before, but after watching this interview I know 100% that I have no interest in watching it.”

It came after Ariana and Cynthia were once again mocked online for a bizarre interaction with them a reporter for Out.com last week.

At some point during the interview, Ariana was seen holding on to one of Cynthia’s fingers – and the intimate moment has now gone viral on X, formerly Twitter.

During the session, journalist Tracy E. Gilchrist told Cynthia that she had seen some people on social media talking about the “lyrics of Defying Gravity,” a song she sings in the film, and about the “power of feeling.” from the title discussed.

Cynthia, 37, seemed shocked and honored by the revelation as she replied: “I didn’t know that was happening.” That’s really powerful. That’s what I wanted.’

As she spoke, Ariana, 31, who also appeared emotional over the comment, reached out and grabbed her co-star’s index finger in what seemed like a sign of support — and many people mocked the exchange online.

“What was that?” one person wrote on X alongside a screenshot of Ariana’s hand wrapped around Cynthia’s finger.

“Is this a sketch comedy show or something?” someone else asked. Another user added “The finger grip” along with a skull emoji.

In the interview for Out Magazine, journalist Tracey E. Gilchrist mentions the film’s closing number – “Defying Gravity” – and claims that people are “taking the lyrics” and “really leaving room with it.”

“When I look at it, I feel like I’m huffing gas. It’s so surreal. “Why does Ariana hold her single finger like that?” read a fourth tweet.

A fifth said: “The part that gets me is Ariana just grabs one of Cynthia’s fingers and holds it and shakes it for comfort.”

“Like not even her hand? Just her finger?’

“Ariana Grande holding Cynthia Erivo’s finger made me laugh three times,” another person proclaimed.

Elsewhere in the same interview, the journalist mentions the film’s closing number – “Defying Gravity” – and claims that people are “taking over the lyrics” and “really holding space with it”.

Erivo holds her hand to her chest and says, “I didn’t know that was happening.” That’s really powerful. That’s what I wanted.’

The exchange quickly gained traction on social media, with fans of the film left confused about what the conversation even meant — and the fact that it referenced a 20-year-old song.

One person said: “I’m holding space for the video about holding space for the lyrics of Defying Gravity.” I don’t understand what holding space means or why it’s so powerful, but I’m holding space for the potential “To understand the space I hold.”

Another added: “I’ve watched this about 30 times and I still can’t understand a single thing what’s going on here.”

A third asked if the cast of “Wicked” was okay. She said: “I’m obsessed with whatever is going on with the cast of Wicked.” Every press interview I’ve seen has been bizarre.

“Are they okay? What happens?’

Another person said the interview generally had a “strange and uncomfortable vibe.”

Ariana and Cynthia have been traveling the world together over the past few weeks to promote their roles in the long-awaited film, which hits theaters on Friday, November 22nd.

They took part in a number of interviews and red carpet events leading up to the film’s release, but continued to come under scrutiny in the press for their behavior.

In particular, many social media users have pointed out that women often break down in tears when discussing the film.

During an appearance on the Heart Breakfast show this week, Cynthia explained why they often get emotional.

“Every interview I’ve read of you and Ariana just says you’re constantly in tears,” host Amanda Holden told Cynthia.

“We do. And I think that’s because people came in with so much energy and came into the room with us with their reactions, their emotional reactions. “It’s the first time we’ve been able to talk about it, so we’re both reliving it and reliving all the things we’ve been through and the journey we’ve been on,” Cynthia replied.

“We can’t help it, we get very emotional.”
