Even though it’s been six days and two games, the unrest of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Week 11 game against the Baltimore Ravens still has an impact. Steelers FS Minkah Fitzpatrick was fined $11,255 for a late hit late in the first half, the NFL announced Saturday.

In the final minute of the first half, LB Patrick Queen forced a fumble that allowed Pittsburgh to take the halftime lead. At the very end of the play, Fitzpatrick’s infraction occurred when he ran to the pile and mixed it up late with Ravens OG Patrick Mekari.

The skirmish continued after Queen ran into the end zone to celebrate. Both Fitzpatrick and Mekari were penalized for unsportsmanlike fouls. But only Fitzpatrick was fined.

An aggressive moment from the normally calm Fitzpatrick, but it suited the course of the game. The first half of Sunday’s showdown felt like a classic Steelers-Ravens game. Intense and physical and pushing the limits of what the referees would allow. Pittsburgh’s offensive line set the tone with C Zach Frazier, RG Mason McCormick and a more aggressive RT Broderick Jones and battled every Ravens defender they could get their hands on. CB Marlon Humphrey was the main tackler. They all managed to avoid fines.

Even K Chris Boswell briefly entered the hoop and clapped after a field goal in the first half. In the second half, Cooler Heads prevailed and Pittsburgh won 18:16.

This was Fitzpatrick’s first penalty of the season, he received more of them than he had interceptions. He has been without a pick for almost two years. Although he remained a strong tackler and trustworthy midfielder, he failed to create the buzz he became known for in his first few seasons with the team.

Fitzpatrick wasn’t the only safety on the field who was fined. Baltimore Ravens SS Kyle Hamilton had his salary reduced by $11,255 for taunting early in the second quarter. This happened when he intercepted a hurdle attempt from RB Najee Harris, and apparently something he said during the skirmish was enough to get the league stripped of the letter. Hamilton was not penalized.
