MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Amid the worst defeats of his career, Pep Guardiola is more determined than ever to stick to his plan.

Manchester City have lost five games in a row in all competitions and are eight points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool after a 4-0 defeat to Tottenham.

City face Feyenoord in the Champions League on Tuesday after being beaten 4-1 by Sporting Lisbon in their last game in European club football’s elite competition. Still, Guardiola said on Monday his confidence in his approach was undeterred.

“What should I change?” he asked. “We will not change our beliefs. We strongly believe in the process and fundamentals that we must meet.

“At this moment we need to address our clients more directly. Don’t change much – less than ever before.”

Four-time defending Premier League champions City have dominated English football since Guardiola’s appointment in 2016.

He has led the team to six of the last seven league titles and won 15 major trophies, including the Champions League in 2023.

Guardiola said he remains confident City will challenge for the top honors again this season.

“I feel like we’re going to do very, very good things this season. I’m not giving up and I feel like we’ll be there,” he said.
