LAS VEGAS (AP) — Kansas Jayhawks forward Hunter Dickinson was sent off during the second half of a heated encounter against the Duke Blue Devils at T-Mobile Arena, a decision that sparked controversy among fans.

The incident occurred midway through the second half during a physical struggle for a rebound.

Dickinson and Duke forward Maliq Brown became tangled under the basket, sending both players to the floor. As Dickinson attempted to free himself, replays appeared to show he made contact with Brown, which officials viewed as an intentional kick.

After a review, Dickinson was assessed a flagrant 2 foul, which resulted in his automatic ejection.

The call left Kansas fans in disbelief and disrupted the momentum of a hard-fought game.

Dickinson, who had been a dominant force for the Jayhawks this season, left with a frustrated look on his face and Kansas had to adjust without its star star.
