The Charlotte Hornets can thank Josh Green for their halftime lead. The undermanned Hornets, missing three starters and a bevy of rotation players, hold a three-point lead thanks almost entirely to Green. He has nine points and an extraordinary sequence in the final seconds.

Josh Green made a tremendous attack that could have been one of the last shots of the half. The New York Knicks had fought back and taken a one-point lead before Green went down hard after the attack. He lay on the ground holding his head for a moment before the Hornets continued the game.

Green went to the ground and found some space along the baseline for a short jumper with just seconds left in the half. It went smoothly and put the Hornets back in the lead. As the Knicks tried to save time by passing far down the field, Green jumped across the passing lane and stole the ball.

With no time to do anything else, the completely alone Green spun in mid-air and sent the shot toward the rim. He barely got it out of his hands before the buzzer sounded and knocked down another shot to extend the lead.

This gave him a total of nine points as the Hornets took a 49-46 lead into the break. This NBA Cup matchup was a tough one, and Green’s team-high score gives him a 45.4% chance of pulling off the upset, per ESPN’s winning odds.
