The wheels of collaboration at JJJJound HQ never stop turning – especially when it comes to footwear collaborations – and now the Montreal-based company has unveiled the latest chapter in its long-standing partnership with New Balance: two versions of the 993. Featuring JJJJound’s signature earthy brown/in With the Olive palette, the new effort isn’t so much a total reimagining of the collaboration as an alternative interpretation of the shades JJJound has used in previous projects as used The 990v3 from 2018, the 992 from 2020, the 990v3 from 2022 and the 991 from 2023 are presented on a new canvas.

One style highlights its uppers with two-tone white and bone midsoles and a striking silver tongue, while the other opts for a darker look thanks to black tongues, collars, overlays and midsoles, consistent with the aforementioned 2022 990v3 release . The only significant change to the silhouette, at least by JJJJound standards, is a reinterpretation of the tongue branding that’s hard to miss. Typically, a 993 features two lines of text that say “New Balance” over a “Made in USA” hit. There’s just a single “Made in USA” lettering here, which has been moved to the top of the tongue, leaving a very small gap between it and the standard “window” that contains the shoe’s model name just above the laces remains .

At the time of writing, this collaborative duo has not yet received a release date. However, they are likely to land in the coming weeks. So stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
