NFL star Peyton Manning was spotted on stage after making his own performance at the CMA Awards.

And no, the CMA host didn’t sing at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Manning showed up at the legendary Losers pub, where he sang David Allan Coe’s “You Never Even Called Me By My Name” with a band on stage.

Based on his performance, we don’t think Manning will be pursuing a career in country music any time soon. Let’s just say he was a little off. But it looks like he had a lot of fun belting out lyrics he obviously knew by heart – and he also wore a sizable belt buckle for the job.

“Thank God he could play football!” One commenter wrote, while another said, “And with that, Peyton Manning surpasses Tom Brady as the greatest of all time.”

The tongue-in-cheek song was written by Steve Goodman and John Prine, although Prine requested that his name be removed from the credits Taste of the country. “You Never Even Called Me By My Name” was released in 1975 and reached #8 on the charts.

Manning co-hosted the CMA Awards on November 20 with Luke Bryan and Lainey Wilson, who also took home Female Vocalist of the Year. We’ll see if Manning is in the running for his performance as a loser next year.
