Liverpool remain the only team with a 100 percent record in the Champions League after five rounds, but Inter and Atalanta are close to qualification while Milan overtakes Juventus.

This season saw the introduction of the new format where all results are summarized in a single table.

The top eight go straight to the round of 16, while the teams from places nine to 24 go straight to the round of 16Th will compete against each other in a play-off phase.

As for the sites in the lower sector, they will simply be eliminated from Europe at the end of this phase.

Liverpool beat Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid 2-0 this evening and have 15 points, so at least a place in the play-offs is already assured.

Inter are in second place with 13 points and another win would virtually secure their place in the top eight.

Atalanta is not far behind in fifth place with 11 points.

Milan have now overtaken Juventus in the standings by nine points and left the Bianconeri behind by eight points.

For all intents and purposes, Bologna are doomed to an early exit, having managed just one point and one goal in five Champions League games.

The biggest surprises are Real Madrid with six points and Paris Saint-Germain with just four points, who are on the verge of elimination in January.

There are three more games on the program in this Champions League phase.
