Hunger Games Franchise filmmaker Francis Lawrence has signed a first-look production deal with Lionsgate through his about:blank label.

Adam Fogelson, chairman of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, made the announcement on Wednesday.

Lawrence and his about:blank producing partner Cameron MacConomy recently wrapped production at Lionsgate’s The long walkthe feature film version of the Stephen King novel starring Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson.

It’s been a year since Lawrence’s prequel came out The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes opened, ultimately grossing nearly $350 million worldwide and giving the Lionsgate feature film series based on the Suzanne Collins novels global ticket sales of $3.7 billion.

“Francis’ ability to combine incredibly compelling characters and emotions with exciting and soulful action and spectacle is extraordinary. He is also a considerate and committed partner,” Fogelson said. “We are thrilled to deepen our relationship.”

“I am excited for the opportunity to make Lionsgate my home,” said Lawrence. “This studio has assembled a team of some of the smartest, most decent people I have ever worked with. We have come up with a few things The long walk And Sunrise on the harvest and there is so much more we have in mind for the future. This deal gives Cameron and I the opportunity to develop and tell new stories that excite us, and there’s nowhere we’d rather be than at Lionsgate.”

With a directing contract to direct and produce The Hunger Games: Sunrise over the Harvestthe next film in the now completed series, Lawrence is preparing to work on this project. Next year, cameras will roll for the worldwide release, scheduled for November 20, 2026.
