The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a centuries-old tradition. But for some, the preparation and inflation of the balloons is as big an event as the parade itself, which celebrates its 100th anniversary on Thursday.

The inflation of the spectacle’s 17 character balloons and 15 historical balloons can be viewed the day before Thanksgiving.

Interested spectators are welcome to visit the American Museum of Natural History on Wednesday, November 27th from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. where there will be a balloon viewing trail that goes around the museum.
