So close… Bronze medal-winning Vermont Olympian Ilona Maher and her partner Alan Bersten placed second in the season 33 finale of “Dancing With the Stars” on Tuesday

The winners were Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson, who received the highest combination of jury and audience votes in the semifinals and finals.

Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong took third place, followed by Stephen Nedoroscik and Rylee Arnold in fourth and Danny Amendola and Witney Carson in fifth.

Ilona Maher on her DWTS debut: “Next week you just watch”

Maher, the Olympic rugby star, and Bersten performed two numbers in the finale: a jive to Ray Charles & The Blues Brothers’ “Shake a Tail Feather” in the Redemption Round; and in the freestyle round “Femininomenon” by Chappell Roan.

Hours before the finale, Maher posted pictures from the entire season on Instagram. In the post’s description, she wrote: “Let’s leave it all on the dance floor tonight. Tune in at 8:00 pm EST to see us dance together for the last time.”

Five couples, including Maher and Bersten, will dance tonight on ABC.
