GRAND HAVEN, MI – Winds howled and waves whipped as a storm warning was in effect for much of the Lake Michigan coast Thursday.

As the precipitation took a break, MLive multimedia specialist Joel Bissell launched a drone to get a different perspective on the waves.

His first flight took place at Pere Marquette Beach in Muskegon, followed by a flight at Grand Haven State Park, where surfers took on the big waves.

The “Storm Warning” was put into effect by the National Weather Service on November 21st from St. Joseph to Manistee. The bulletin reported winds of up to 50 miles per hour and precipitation.

According to the NWS, waves were 7 to 10 feet high, occasionally reaching 13 feet, and waves reached heights of 12 to 16 feet.
