Moana 2 hit theaters on November 27th – just in time for Thanksgiving. If you’re planning on watching the sequel, you might be curious Moana 2 contains an end credits scene that hints at the future of the popular franchise.

Disney’s animated sequel sees Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson reprise their roles as Moana and Maui. The story follows Moana as she receives an unexpected call from her ancestors showing her the way. She must embark on a journey to the distant seas of Oceania, venturing into “dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike any she has ever experienced before,” according to Disney’s official synopsis.

“(Moana) is growing. She pushes herself even further beyond the reef,” lead actress Cravalho shared with People about Moana’s next chapter. “(I’m grateful) to return to this character that I know so well, but also to take her on a very different journey.”

Moana 2 According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is expected to gross between $125 million and $150 million in its first five days in theaters. If these estimates are correct, the sequel could score one of the best five-day Thanksgiving debuts in the United States and possibly the highest five-day Thanksgiving box office of all time.

In the mid-credits scene of Moana 2Viewers are introduced to Nalo, the bright purple storm god, for the first time. Throughout the film, Matangi has acted on behalf of Nalo, but now he is angered that Moana and Maui have broken his curse across the ocean. In this scene, we see Nalo using his lightning to captivate Matangi, who is secretly helping Moana and Maui in their search for the spirit-filled seas to raise Motufenu.

The additional scene also reintroduces Tamatoa, one of the main antagonists from the original film. The giant crab monster appears to be teaming up with Nalo and Matangi to get revenge on Moana and Maui for outsmarting him in the first film, potentially setting the stage for a third film.
