The City of Lawrence and Douglas County offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 28 and 29, for the Thanksgiving holiday.

There will be no Douglas County Commission meeting on Wednesday, November 27th. The next Lawrence City Commission meeting will be Tuesday, December 3rd.

Parking is free at meters, lots and garages in downtown Lawrence on Thursday and Friday.

Lawrence Transit will not have service Thursday. Services will resume on Friday, but the main station will remain closed on Thursday and Friday.

For residential customers on Thursday and Friday, solid waste pickup will be delayed by one day. Thursday’s routes are collected on Friday, Friday’s trash routes are collected on Saturday. There will be no changes for customers on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. There is no roll-off service on Thursday and Friday; it starts again on Monday, December 2nd.

The Lawrence Public Library remains closed on Thursdays and Fridays, but the digital library is available 24 hours a day at lplks.org/digital-library.

All city parks and recreation facilities will remain closed Thursday. Holiday hours for leisure centers are as follows:

• Community Building, East Lawrence Rec Center and Holcom Park Rec Center: Open Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 1st
• Lawrence Sports Pavilion: Open Wednesday from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.; 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m
• Prairie Park Nature Center: closed Friday; open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, November 29; Closed on Sunday
• Eagle Bend Golf Course: Open Friday from 9 a.m. to dusk; Opening times vary depending on weather and frost

The Indoor Aquatic Center opening hours are as follows:
Lap swimming from 6:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., warm water training from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The zero depth children’s area, slide and diving area will be open on Wednesday, November 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Lap swimming from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., warm water training from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and the zero depth children’s area and slide and diving area will be open Friday, November 29th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The municipal compost facility will be closed on Saturday. The final two days open this year are self-loading Saturdays on December 7th and 14th, but according to the city’s website there is no longer any compost available – only wood chips.

The Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center will be closed on Thursdays and Fridays. The Douglas County Treatment and Recovery Center at 1000 W. Second St. is available 24 hours a day. The HeadQuarters Kansas Crisis Line can be reached at 785-841-2345 or 988.
