Vehicle towing JetBlue aircraft hits Cape Air aircraft at Logan Airport

BOSTON – Two Cape Air pilots were taken to the hospital as a precaution after the plane they were on was struck by a JetBlue tug at Logan Airport in Boston on Monday evening.

Cape Air said there were three passengers and two crew members aboard Cape Air Flight 5101 from Nantucket to Boston.

According to Massport, a tug towing an empty JetBlue plane struck the tail of the Cape Air plane “at low speed.” It happened around 6:15 p.m. Massport said the two Cape Air pilots were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The Cape Air aircraft involved in the incident was taken out of service for inspection.

According to the airline, the JetBlue tug has been removed from service and the JetBlue aircraft is undergoing a thorough inspection. “Safety is JetBlue’s top priority and we will investigate this incident,” JetBlue said in a statement.

JetBlue said there were no reported injuries from the incident.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.

Airplanes clip wings at Logan Airport

The previous Monday there were two planes from American Airlines and Frontier Airlines clipped wings on the tarmac at Logan Airport.

The FAA told CBS News in a statement that it is investigating the collision. The agency said the American plane was a Boeing 777 that was being towed when it hit the Frontier jet, an Airbus A321. According to the FAA, the collision occurred in an area not subject to air traffic control.
