Bowen Yang reveals his dream ‘SNL’ host

Bowen Yang was a Saturday Night Live He’s been a member of the cast for five years now, meaning he’s seen many celebrity guest hosts come and go. Yang revealed his “white whale” dream guest The Kelly Clarkson Showand also thought of a new twist that might make it more likely.

“Well, my white whale has always been Cher,” Yang told Kelly Clarkson.

“She’s hilarious!” Clarkson agreed.

“She’s so funny! And since you two have a single out, I feel like it would blow my mind if you and Cher performed together,” Yang said.

Yang is referring to “DJ Play a Christmas Song,” which was originally the lead single from Cher’s 2023 Christmas album (simply titled). Christmas). After Clarkson covered it on the show in her regular “Kellyoke” segment (and elsewhere), she and Cher eventually teamed up for a new dance remix of the song.

“I love this song so much,” Clarkson said. “I was so much her road team, I think she felt obligated to ask me. I sang it everywhere! So we released the dance remix version, she had me sing on it and it was a dream come true. So I understand your Cher scenario.

Cher didn’t perform SNL Since she was a musical guest in 1987, Yang hopes the addition of Clarkson might lure her back to the show. However, Clarkson doubted that she could match Cher’s acting skills.

“When Cher comes in, I just want to be the person who happens to walk out the back door,” she said.

“No, Kelly!” Yang protested.

Yang herself has more than just that SNL to talk about these days. The actor, comedian and podcast host also has a role in the new one Evil Film in which she plays a mean friend of Glinda (Ariana Grande), who was the hostess SNL) at Shiz University. He was even allowed to screen the film with him SNL Co-stars.
